“We’re looking at organic production,” Mr. Poirier said. “Although we’re not certified, we’re not going to be using pesticides or herbicides or any other potentially harmful products.”
The sorghum, Mr. Poirier said, will grow to about 12 to 14 feet high.
“It won’t attack the soil the way corn does,” Mr. Poirier said. “It doesn’t use nitrogen in the same way and it won’t take food off the table.”
